Testing, testing…

Our ‘Dementia friendly parks’ project is moving forward at a pace and has just got the next exciting phase underway. We’ve now developed a draft environmental self-assessment tool and accompanying guide, and recently held a briefing session to get a small number of sites involved in the first round of testing to see how these new resources work in practice. Does what we’ve created make sense? Is there anything missing? Are the resources easy to use?

We’ll update the resources based on the feedback we receive before undertaking further testing with a wider range of sites to make sure that the work we’re doing is applicable to as many different types of site as possible. Hopefully we’ll also be able to visit some of the sites for ourselves and meet the lovely people who have engaged with the project so far. We might even get to add to our collection of bench photos!!

We look forward to launching the resources later this year once the testing has finished and letting everyone know about the next phase of the project, so watch this space.

This project is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Our project on ‘Working towards creating dementia-friendly parks, outside spaces and nature reserves’ is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we will be able to develop a guide and environmental self-assessment tool to improve access to outside spaces for people affected by dementia.
