Celebration time

We like to hear about what our students have done since completing training and education courses with us to celebrate their achievements, but it’s not always easy to find out what’s been going on. So, we thought we’d let you know about a few opportunities:

  • The Hennell Award is our annual award which is open to anyone who has studied on any of our education courses. Whether that’s a dementia awareness course, training for your organisation, our free Meeting Centre course, our Namaste Care and Championing Physical Activity short courses, or a postgraduate module, Award or Certificate, if you’ve done something to put your learning into practice, you’re eligible. Find out about previous winners and how to enter via our website, but don’t leave it too long as entries for this year close 1st August.
  • The University of Worcester is also launching an Alumni Award this year to recognise and showcase student success. There are ten different award categories, so opportunities for everyone. You don’t need to be a recent graduate, but in terms of our students only those from our postgraduate course will be eligible. You can find out more about the categories and how to apply here and if you have any questions you can email alumni@worc.ac.uk. Nominations will close 7th July so don’t delay.
  • Not an award, but if you’ve used any of our environmental assessment tools within your organisation or as part of our postgraduate module ‘Enabling Environments for People Living with Dementia’, we would really like to hear about any changes you’ve made. We’ve got a short survey where you can share your stories, so take a look.
  • And finally, the education team here at the Association for Dementia Studies (ADS) warmly invites students that have completed their Postgraduate Certificate or Award in 2026 and our alumni to an online celebration on Monday 20th July (10.30am–12 noon). This event offers our alumni (and recent students) a chance to reflect on their achievements, reconnect with the ADS community, and look ahead to future opportunities in a relaxed and supportive space. The session will include shared reflections, celebration of student success, and updates on ADS projects, providing a valuable opportunity to come together as a learning community and mark the commitment and dedication that has brought students to this milestone. If you would like to join us for this event please email dementia@worc.ac.uk providing the year you completed and the award you achieved with ADS.

We look forward to hearing all about what our students have been up to since studying with us, so please engage with one of the relevant activities listed above, depending on the course you took.
